Below, we will look at some of the top mini paper shredders available today. 👇
What is a Mini Paper Shredder?
When people say mini paper shredders (also known as manual or handheld shredders), they refer to a smaller version of regular shredders. A hallmark of these shredders is their size; they can often fit within a drawer or closet. These shredders usually take a bare-bones approach, only including the essential features and scrapping any extra parts.
Making this list was relatively tricky; finding the top mini paper shredders was tough. Most mainstream manufacturers sell at least one mini shredder. However, many of them are rubbish 👉🗑️. We’ve looked at them all, so you don’t have to… 👇

- 5-Minute Continuous Run-Time: Shreds up to 5 minutes before a 30-minute cool down period is needed
The Fellowes 9C4 is arguably the best mini shredder available today. It packs powerful performance despite being relatively small in size.
Although it’s a small shredder, it remains one of the more secure options, as it has a P4 security rating. Considering its size, the Fellowes 9C4 has a nine-sheet capacity. Or in other words, it can destroy nine separate documents at any time.
It produces paper particles of just 5/32″ x 1-3/8″ in size during the shredding process, which go into its 3.8 Gallon wastebasket. We’ve found that emptying its built-in bin is rather straightforward; unclip it, take it to a rubbish bin, then empty it. This aspect helps keep the mess to a minimum.
Its shredding mechanism is surprisingly efficient, as it can shred paperclips, staples, and credit cards. Whatsmore, it does this while keeping the noise down. Don’t worry about disturbing your colleagues or family members; silence is a key aspect of Fellowes 9C4.
However, there’s a catch. For some, size is all that matters. In that case, the Fellowes 9C4 might not be for you. Although small, it’s a little larger than other mini paper shredders featured on this list. We’ve found that it works more under the desk than on a desktop.
Either way, this shredder remains powerful and compact. We recommend it for households and small offices! …Read more.
Aurora AS420C
- Aurora Desktop Style Crosscut Paper Shredder with Basket
- 4.5-inch throat width
- Easy lifting handle
- See through basket
The Aurora AS420C is the clear winner regarding size. You can place this mini shredder on your desk, and it will take barely any space.
Its hallmark is maneuverability. The built-in carry handle makes moving it straightforward, which can then fold flat. Whatsmore, it’s very lite; I could carry it around with two fingers.
Inserted material is then cross-cut into relatively small pieces, whether that be credit cards or paper. The shredded outcome will then fall into the wastebasket, holding up to forty pieces of paper. The bin’s size is unfortunate. It’s too small, so expect to make frequent trips to the rubbish bin to empty it. Considering the size, I don’t see a way around this.
In addition, the Aurora AS420C’s small size affects what things can be shredded. For example, its insert slot is only 4.5 inches wide; not large enough to handle some document types. If you’ve got letters, you’ll have to fold them in half.
Considering that the Aurora AS420C was made with size in mind, I believe they did a good job. Although its dimensions have limited the shredder’s capabilities, it remains a mini alternative to regular shredders. We suggest it’s used only occasionally with a small volume of documents. …Read more.

The Bonsaii C204-C acts as an alternative for the other two options included on this list. It’s larger than the Aurora AS420C yet smaller than the Fellowes 9C4.
It includes some more advanced features while retaining the compact dimensions associated with mini paper shredders.
As a cross-cut mini shredder, it will produce particles that measure 13/64″ x 1-37/64″ in size. As such, it has been given a P-3 security rating; below-standard. Considering this, we suggest going with the Fellowes 9C4 if you’re looking for a more secure alternative.
Like the previous two mini paper shredders, the Bonsaii can handle paperclips, staples, and credit cards (one at a time). The built-in waste basked is 3.4 Gallons, which is much more impressive than the Aurora AS420C. In addition, it includes a manual reverse feature, which practically eliminates paper jams.
It can operate for four minutes straight, with a few minutes rest afterward. During this time, it can shred six sheets at a time; for most households, this should be enough.
The Bonsaii mini shredder offers good performance at a fair price. Considering its weight, built-in handle, and sheet capacity, we could only suggest this shredder for households and tiny offices. …Read more.
